Intermediate Electrical Engineer

We are looking to hire a full time Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join the Kozar Engineering team. The candidate will provide electrical engineering support to the project team and help ensure that technical excellence, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the team and support in the execution of:

  • Completing electrical engineering activities with the objective of meeting the defined contractual scope to the relevant codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Performing detailed reviews of project electrical design specifications, design and standard detail drawings, and electrical engineering calculations as required.
  • Creation of engineering/project documents as well as answering RFIs (Requests for Information), stamp, and issue drawings.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing electrical engineering documentation including, low & medium voltage distribution systems, power distribution centres, motor control centres, DC battery systems, lighting design, fire alarm & life safety systems and network & communication systems.
  • Developing project design criteria, design basis, and electrical specifications.
  • Developing project deliverable including: single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable tray layouts, cable schedules, junction box layouts, bill of materials, lighting and grounding layouts, control panel layouts, instrument layouts and instrument indices.
  • Assisting in document preparation, including but not limited to reports, tender documents and proposals;
  • Conducting site investigations and field work in industrial settings as required; and
    Communicating with project managers, engineers, clients and various suppliers.
  • Providing electrical designers with modifications to technical drawings and work plans according to engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for design team.
  • Reviewing and ensuring required corrections are completed by designers and meets project standards. Identifying any slippages to schedule or budget and report to Projects group to make changes accordingly.
  • Remaining current with developing technologies in both electrical engineering and control/instrumentation technologies used.
  • Completion of other relevant duties as required.


Requirements

Experience & Academic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5 – 10 years Electrical Engineering experience with industrial facilities an asset.
  • Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) in good standing with PEO is a must.
  • Additional licenses in other jurisdictions would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Familiar with the development of P&IDs, DBMs, single line diagrams, and other key design documents.
  • Working knowledge of CAD design software and standards would be an asset.
  • Valid class G driver’s license
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.

Intermediate Designer (Red Lake)

We are currently seeking to hire a Designer/CAD Technician to work in our Red Lake, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two – five (2 to 5) years experience in any of the following disciplines; mechanical, architectural or structural with industrial experience.

This employee’s tasks will include:

  • Assist the design team in 3D model and drawing development
  • Provide input to estimates and proposals
  • Review drawings & other engineering documents
  • Create and revise Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Maintaining a CAD library
  • Develop solutions to problems in industrial settings
  • Complete field work, primarily in industrial settings

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering Technician Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 – 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have experience using AutoCAD and 3D modelling. Ceasar, FEA, Revit, Microstation software experience is a benefit.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership abilities demonstrated through employment experience.
  • Strong analytical, computer, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid Class G drivers license.

Junior Engineering professionals

We are currently seeking to hire two (2) Junior Engineering professionals for the summer of 2023.

These positions are being filled to support an-ongoing project at a regional mine. The employee will work a “two week on, two week off” schedule working 12 hour days.  This position will run from June – September, 2023.  The employee will be stationed at a fly in mine site and accommodation will be provided.  The ideal candidate would be an Engineer in Training (E.I.T)., an engineering technologist, or a senior student of an engineering undergraduate or diploma program.

The duties for this position include:

  • Support site personnel as required.
  • Prepare material takeoff lists based on IFC drawings.
  • Prepare as-built drawings of completed installations.
  • Coordination equipment and cable tags based on site standards during commissioning phase.
  • Perform field checks for the Kozar team.
  • Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction. Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Provide input to estimates and proposals.
  • Review drawings & other engineering documents.
  • Create and revise Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Prepare technical and design reports.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Be familiar with the applicable codes and legislation.
  • Develop detailed designs as required and collaborate with drafting personnel to prepare design drawing packages.
  • Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and as recorded drawings.
  • Propose solutions to problems in industrial settings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in engineering technology from an accredited college
    OR
    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university
    OR
    Senior student currently registered in an Engineering Technology or Engineering degree program
    OR
    EIT status recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Competent in the field, particularly in industrial settings.
  • Attention to detail and personal safety.
  • Self starter.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and 3D modelling.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
