Compressor Heat Recovery System
Kozar Engineering completed the engineering, detailed design, and construction support for a new compressed air system and building for a regional mine. The mine required additional compressed air capacity to support continued underground development. To achieve this, a new building was constructed that would support 5,300hp compressors and associated electrical power and controls. A heat recovery system was incorporated to make the best use of waste heat from the compressors and to offset fresh air raise heating costs.
Fresh Air Raise
Kozar Engineering provided the engineering, detailed design, and construction support for the installation of foundations for a fresh air raise at a regional mine. This included the collar and foundations for the ductwork, dampers, fans, heater houses and E-house. A few years later when the mine required additional ventilation underground, Kozar Engineering provided the foundation design for a second fan installation.
To date, Kozar Engineering has provided mechanical, structural, and civil designs supporting the operation of nine fresh air and exhaust air raises at seven mines in Ontario and Manitoba.
A regional mine required a new paste loadout facility to support slick lines. Kozar Engineering completed the engineering and detailed design of a new building that housed a hopper and discharge with the necessary controls. The loadout was placed in a heated building to mitigate the safety risks and icing during winter operations. A temporary loadout was also provided during construction activities to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.
